$300,000 shorfall threatens to shut down NAHJ

The gravity of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists’s current financial woes has forced its president, Ricardo Pimentel, to send a fundraising plea to its members. NAHJ has raised $75,000, but that’s not enough to keep the organization running. It needs to come up with another $225,000 before the end of the year.

“If we don’t raise more funds now, NAHJ will have to cease operations and stop all programs for the rest of the year,” writes Ricardo in a letter sent to members today. He also mentions that NAHJ has recently announced furloughs for its entire staff.
