Telemundo changes its news strategy

Telemundo not only dumped Pedro Sevcec yesterday. It also announced a “comprehensive news strategy to enhance and expand its news content across key day parts and multiple platforms.”

What does that mean? Well, the network promises to increase its “investment in local newscasts at the Telemundo stations,” and pump up its “multimedia news strategy across all its platforms.”

The station group is creating “content centers” across the country “to improve news coverage and provide multimedia news content.”

Telemundo also named José Márquez VP of Interactive Strategy.

The multimedia news strategy will include some changes in “Al Rojo Vivo,” such as a renewed format, a stronger online presence and a new journalism team.

On the digital media front, it will include longer new video segments online of “ARV” and “Levántate” on demand.

Telemundo Digital also plans to offer exclusive made for Web and mobile news content. The network also plans to produce news specials for its cable offspring, mun2.
