Ferreyra among AOL layoffs

Carlos Ferreyra, Programming Director at AOL Latino, was among the 1500 AOL employees laid off this month. He had been with the company over 6 years. Carlos previously worked for Univision online and before that was Latin American Editor at La Opinión.

AOL had announced in November of last year that they planned to cut 2500 jobs in order to save $300 million a year. About 1100 employees took voluntary buyouts in December, prompting the company to follow with layoffs in mid January of this year as part of its global restructuring.

AOL spun off from Time Warner in early December.
