Cucuy returns to radio

Renán Almendárez Coello, best known as “El Cucuy,” is back on the air. He started this week as morning host in Albuquerque’s KKNS-FM La Ley and 1310 AM.

El Cucuy, who at one point was the number one radio DJ in Los Angeles, signed off SBS’s KLAX-FM in Sept. 2008. He also had a short-lived TV variety show on Azteca América, called “Azte Pa Ca.”

According to Mediaweek, the Albuquerque radio station that hired Renán is a low-rated Regional Mexican station owned by El Camino Communications.
