Minority legislators support Comcast/NBC merger

The National Conference Of Hispanic Legislators (NCHL) and the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) have written letters to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski stating the Comcast $30 billion takeover bid for NBCU would be a positive development for their communities.

According to B&C, NCHL National Chairman David Casas of Georgia wrote: “the proposed combination will only enhance Comcast’s ability to positively impact the lives of millions of Hispanic Americans.” The NBCSL, meanwhile, applauds Comcast’s past diversity efforts and considers the new company would “promote the important value of diversity.”

The FCC will be holding public hearings on the merger in Chicago and Los Angeles in the coming months.
