Univision’s revenues soar in Q2, tops ratings

Univision earned more than $1 billion during the first 6 months of 2010. The media company’s revenues jumped 23% to $640 million and operating profits went up 20% to $272 million in Q2, compared to the same period last year. The World Cup certainly helped – it brought in $74 million, with $5 million coming in from the network’s online coverage.

Other big news for Univision is that it scored big time in July sweeps. It’s set to finish the month as the #1 network in primetime, broadcast or cable among all adults 18-34, beating ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX, and comes in at #3 among adults 18-49, regardless of language. Nielsen also reports big audience increases for Univision over the past year.

I guess you can’t underestimate novela power!
