Rodriguez ousted in Early Show talent shakeup

Maggie Rodriguez will no longer be part of “The Early Show” anchor team on CBS. She and co-anchor Harry Smith, as well as weatherman Dave Price have been taken off the morning show to give room for incoming Chris Wragge and Erica Hill, currently co-anchors of the Saturday edition.

Marysol Castro, who left Good Morning America in early September to spend more time with her family, returns to the air as the show’s new weathercaster.

According to the AP, these changes are part of an overhaul “to give the broadcast team a fresh look.”

Harry Smith will become primary substitute anchor for CBS’s news shows, including “The Evening News with Katie Couric” and “Face the Nation.”

CBS has said Maggie will continue with the network, but hasn’t said in what role.

Maggie started out as CBS network anchor of “The Saturday Early Show” in December 2007, before being named co-anchor of the weekday morning show.

The new team is scheduled to start on the air on Jan. 3, 2011.
