LBI buys Chicago station

Estrella TV is gaining another market: Chicago. Liberman Broadcasting, Inc (LBI Media) has bought low-power WESV-LP from Trinity Broadcasting for $1.25 million.

Chicagoland Radio and Media reports the sale began in February when LBI purchased WWTO-TV broadcast translator W40BY, but the deal was finalized this month. W40BY is now WESV-LP, channel 40. Although the low-power station is licensed to Palatine, IL, it will broadcast from the top of Chicago’s Willis Tower.

Channel 40’s airwave range is very limited, but LBI reportedly expects to have Estrella TV in cable and satellite tiers soon.
