NPR CEO resigns over hidden camera video

National Public Radio President and CEO Vivian Schiller resigned today, after a hidden camera video surfaced yesterday capturing comments by former executive Ron Schiller (not related) criticizing the Tea Party and Republicans for being “xenophobic” and “seriously racist people,” and saying NPR would be better off without federal funding.

For many years, NPR has been a target of conservatives, who claim its programming is too liberal and left-wing biased. Last month, House Republicans passed a budget bill that would end funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which gives financial support to programs distributed on NPR and PBS.
