América TeVe to launch 24-hr news channel

Omar Romay

América TV owner and president Omar Romay told employees a “re-engineering” of the company is underway to launch a 24-hr news channel. According to an insider, it could be a reality by late summer or early fall.

In an email to staffers yesterday, Romay announced a reorganization of personnel in order to accomplish the mission, promoting several employees.

Miguel Cossio will be editorial news director, Diego Bas will be news director in charge of assignments and guests, Javier Morales will be news director in charge of operations, and TV vet Roberto Vizcón will be news director in charge of production.

Roberto Vizcon

Prior to joining América TeVe in 2009, Roberto was General Manager of WGEN-TV in Miami. Before that he was VP and GM of ZGS-owned WMTO in Orlando. He previously spent nearly 12 years as news director at the Telemundo O&O in Miami.
