Starz to launch Spanish-language movie channel

June 3, 2011 by Veronica Villafañe

Premium cable network Starz is going after the growing U.S. Hispanic population, by launching Encore Español.

The new premium channel will offer subscribers Hollywood hits and movie programming in Spanish 24/7.
According to Ed Huguez, Starz EVP, Sales and Affiliate marketing, “Hispanic household ratings over-index on ENCORE in viewership by more than 40%,” making the Spanish-language channel a “great new addition to the ENCORE family of channels.”

Encore Español is expected to launch for cable, satellite and telecom firms on August 1st.
