Lay-offs at CNN

November 11, 2011 by Veronica Villafañe

CNN today laid off about 50 staff-members in Atlanta, New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Miami.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the layoffs come after “a three-year internal review.”

Among those laid off: photojournalists, technicians and librarians.

CNN Sr VP Jack Womack sent staffers an internal memo that outlined the network’s reorganization, “noting that new technology in desk-top editing and user-generated content and social media have made some editing and photojournalism positions redundant.”

That memo is published on the THR story.
