Morgante gets AP bureau chief job

Michelle Morgante has been named Associated Press Bureau Chief for Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. She’ll be based in Minneapolis. She replaces Randy Picht, who was named executive director of the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism.

Michelle leaves Miami, where she was Assistant Chief of Bureau – Florida/ Caribbean business manager for the AP.

With the exception of just one year, Michelle’s entire career has been with the AP. She started out as a news intern in Detroit in 1991, later working as a reporter, international desk editor and foreign correspondent, until her Assistant Chief of Bureau position in Miami, where she spent the last 5 years.
