Jessica Serrano has been tapped to lead the editorial team at the newly launched iVillage Mujer de Hoy, a multi-platform bilingual digital magazine that will live on Telemundo.com.

Jessica has been with Telemundo since 2010, in charge of the previous incarnation of the site, Mujer de Hoy. That Spanish-language only site had been operating for the past 4 years.

“We began 6 months ago working on creating and implementing the site,” says Jessica.  “Ivillage Mujer de Hoy is a brand new website with a different vision and strategy. Ivillage and Telemundo as sister companies made this decision, based on research that acculturated bilinguals and English dominant Latinas in the US are being underserved. Now with this new platform we can write in Spanish but also in English without damaging the language by making it in Spanglish like some other sites do.”

According to a Telemundo release, the site, officially launched on Monday July 16, aims to target “16 million digitally savvy underserved Latinas who seek solutions and advice through a Hispanic lens.”

NBCUniversal hopes to capitalize on Telemundo Media’s Hispanic reach and iVillage’s strength as the largest content-driven community for women.

Actress Adamari Lopez, the newly named host of Telemundo’s morning show “Un Nuevo Dia” (formerly “Levántate”), has been named Ambassador of iVillage Mujer de Hoy. In this role, she will contribute to the site, as well as bring the site’s content to television through two weekly segments on “Un Nuevo Día.”

“This new site features a greater amount of relevant content… From home, family, love, style, cooking, etc. It hits on all points of a Latina’s lifestyle,” says Jessica.  “As a Latina (I was born in Ecuador and raised in Miami) I feel very attached to this project, it entails both worlds English and Spanish making a synergy.  It is catered and written for the latina point of view while uplifting and empowering Latinas in the U.S.”
