Is it the end of Todobebé?

December 19, 2012 by Veronica Villafañe

Top executives of Todobebe have left the multimedia company and its main website is on an apparent hiatus.  A prominent message announces technical improvements are temporarily rendering several features unavailable “for a couple of hours,” but it has been at least over 30 hours since that disclaimer showed up on Todobebe.com’s front page.

Postings on Facebook and Twitter have screeched to a halt, with the last entries on Nov. 25 and Oct. 23, respectively.

The site's front page shows a message indicating "technical improvements" are temporarily preventing member logins and upload of photos.

Gillian Sandler’s Linkedin page shows her as Todobebe Chairman & CEO from 2001 to July 2012 and now lists her as owner of Galapont LLC in New York.

Laura Martínez reports for Portada that Sandler has not returned email inquiries, that Michael Sigel, SVP of of Sales & Marketing, is no longer with the company effective 9/24/12 and that Jeannette Kaplun, TodoBebe’s founder and Editor in Chief also left to launch a new women’s website called Hispana Global.

Laura also reached out to Palladium Equity Partners of New York City, the company’s top investor, but they refused to comment on the company’s situation.

Todobebe launched in 1999, growing into a multimedia company with broadcast TV, radio, digital and social media properties, extending its brand into promotions, events and licensing. After years of airing a show on Telemundo, Todobebe switched over to Univision in 2008. “Viva la Familia de Todobebé,” a weekly, one-hour show ended its Univision run on June 9, 2012.
