nuvoTV expands comedy programming

nuvoTV plans to use Stand Up & Deliver as a launching pad to introduce more comedy programming to its schedule.

nuvoTV has announced plans to develop more comedy series and specials.

As part of the network’s push to expand comedy programming within its line-up, nuvoTV is launching the original comedy series “Stand Up & Deliver,” premiering Tuesday April 2 at 10 pm ET.

The new show, hosted by Julissa Bermudez and José Sarduy, will showcase stand-up comedians, featuring stars and up & coming talent with a Latino and multicultural spin.

nuvoTV recently appointed former Comedy Central exec Bill Hilary as Head of Programming.

A champion for the early inclusion of Latino comedians at Comedy Central, including stand-up and specials of talents such as Carlos Mencia, Hilary is planning on further developing the genre at nuvoTV.

Bill Hilary was named nuvoTV’s Head of Programming in mid-March.

“Comedy will be a key part of our overall strategy going forward,” Hilary says in a statement. “NUVOtv will become a showcase for new comedic talent; a place where new stars will emerge.”

The network is currently in talks with major comedy suppliers for a deal to create more stand-up programming, one-off network events and tours.

Details on NUVOtv’s comedy initiative and other new 2013-14 programming will be unveiled at the network’s May 15 Upfront presentation in NYC.
