Univision is giving webnovelas another shot.  This time, the network teamed up with NASCAR and Kate Del Castillo Productions, Inc. to bring the speed of sport car racing to millions of Spanish-speaking viewers who might have never watched a NASCAR race.

“Arranque de Pasión, La Historia de Ela” stars Kate Del Castillo, Carlos Ponce and Christian Meier debuts online on April 1, 2013 at midnight ET.

The five-to-seven minute webisodes will air at midnight ET every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The webnovela is written and directed by Gazcón Fazi, produced exclusively for Univision’s online and mobile properties.

An edited version of the NASCAR-themed drama will air as a television special on Univision on Sunday, May 5.

Kate previously starred in Univision’s first webnovela “Vidas Cruzadas,” with Guy Ecker in 2010.
