He may no longer be a staff columnist, but Albor tells me that he will continue to do freelance work for the Daily News and that the future holds a lot to look forward to.
“My plans are to continue writing my column and start a trilingual blog (English, Spanish and Spanglish), about our people and the reality we face once we arrive to the U.S.,” he says. “Who knows, I may finally write the book that’s been on my mind for several years about who we Cubans really are versus who we think we or or who we would like to be.”
Albor says his lay off didn’t come as a surprise. “I was more or less prepared for the possibility it would happen.”
He’s keeping a positive outlook in light of such a big change in his life. “The first thing to think about now is to move forward, not disappear and to continue giving a voice to the voiceless.”
Before joining the Daily news in July of 1993, Albor was the Editor-in-Chief of the bilingual newspaper El Daily News and Chief Editorial Writer and columnist at New York’s El Diario-La Prensa.
