María Elvira returns to TV as CNN Latino launches in Miami

María Elvira returns to television as part of the CNN Latino Miami team to launch in August.

CNN Latino is expanding to Miami, and as I anticipated back in January when her show was canceled on GENTV, María Elvira Salazar has been recruited for the CNN en Español-produced Spanish-language programming block.

The Emmy Award winner returns to TV with a daily prime time show called “María Elvira,” that will be carried on all CNN Latino east coast affiliates from 8-9 PM (EST).

CNN Latino will be available on WDFL-Channel 11 in Miami from 3-11 PM (ET) beginning in August. It will also be seen on Comcast Channel 18, on AT&T U-Verse Channel 20, and on Atlantic Broadband Channel 82.

Newly appointed President and General Manager for WDFL-Channel 11, Tomas Johansen, will launch and lead the affiliate station.

In 2013, MIA TV, LLC, a company led by Luis Perez, Manuel Enriquez, Gerardo Necuze, Judith Prado and Luis Isaias (The Isaias Group also known as TIG), which also operates CNN Latino TV affiliates in New York, Tampa and Orlando, merged WDFL-LD Channel 11 with heritage cable channel Telemiami. “María Elvira” will be produced by MIA TV.

CNN Latino launched in Los Angeles in January 2013.
