Al Jazeera America debuts website a week before launch

Al Jazeera America launches in just 6 days.  The much talked about new network that hired Antonio Mora as one of its prime-time anchors, is starting to preview its offerings.

AJAM launched its official website yesterday, replacing the placeholder, which only listed press releases and information on cable providers that carried the channel.

Al Jazeera America’s website went live on Tuesday, Aug. 13, one week before the network is scheduled to launch.

The site’s homepage, which states it’s in a “beta” phase, features the latest news, promotes some of its shows and a has search window to find what providers carry the channel.

There is also a link TV schedule that shows a partial programming list.  A message on that page indicates “the full Al Jazeera America broadcast schedule will be viewable starting on our launch date, August 20.”

Among the featured shows, “Consider This,” hosted by Antonio Mora and “The Stream,” where Julio Varela is a digital producer.
