After much deliberation, former “Piolín de la Mañana” sidekick Betty Velasco has come forward to back up Alberto “Beto” Cortez’s claims of harassment against Eddie Sotelo.

In an interview with La Opinión reporter Lucero Amador-Miranda, Velasco says she endured a hostile work environment after she herself filed claims against Piolín with Univision Radio’s human resources department. She believes her complaints eventually got her fired from the show in 2010. She had worked with Piolín for 4 years.

Velasco says Piolín was verbally abusive and disrespectful. On one occasion, he urinated in front of her in the radio booth, prompting her to report him to HR.

Velasco, who is now a DJ at RadioToxiko.com, says she witnessed many of the things former co-worker Beto Cortez’s went through, but “never imagined he would expose them in a lawsuit.”

She did say Sotelo is a hard worker with lots of talent and virtues, but that “his mistakes exceeded him.”

She decided to come forward to defend her former co-worker after Sotelo and his attorney alleged Cortez’s claims were untrue and only made to score financial gain.
