Laura Martínez has been named Senior Editor at CNET en Español.  She had been consulting on the project for the past few weeks, but accepted joining the team full time starting October 1.

“I’m really excited about the project, because it combines two things that fascinate me: media and technology,” Laura tells me. “What I love most about it, is that I’ll be writing in Spanish again…. We’re just getting started, but we’ll be moving very rapidly to expand original content, something I’ll be focusing on.”

Laura is best known as a freelance writer, who extensively covers Hispanic television for several publications, including Multichannel News, Emmy magazine and Portada.  While her new full-time job won’t allow her to do much writing on the side, she says she’ll continue to do some freelancing and update her personal site  www.Miblogestublog.com when time permits.

Laura was the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the now defunct Marketing y Medios magazine. She previously helped create and launch the weekly Spanish-language edition of the Wall Street Journal, distributed as an insert in several Spanish-language newspapers in the country.
