Countdown to Fusion launch

ABC and Univision will simulcast portions of their morning shows to promote Fusion.

Univision’s “Despierta América” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” “fuse” for a day to celebrate the launch of Fusion tonight at 6:57 pm, ET.

Karla Martínez and Raúl González of “Despierta América” will join the “GMA” team live in Times Square while ABC’s Lara Spencer and Sam Champion travel to Miami to be live from the “Despierta América” set.

The hosts of  Fusion’s “The Morning Show” – Pedro Andrade, Mariana Atencio, and Yannis Pappas – will participate in crossover event from the “Despierta América” set.

The ABC and Univision morning shows will simulcast portions of their broadcasts to both television networks. That’s the lead up to the debut of the new network, a joint venture between ABC and Univision.

The concept of Fusion has evolved since the joint venture was first announced as a “multiplatform news and information service for U.S. Hispanics” in May of 2012.

Later billed as a “cable news and lifestyle network” targeting Hispanic millenials, now Fusion is describing itself as “a news, pop culture and satire TV and digital network” that “will engage and champion a young, diverse, and inclusive America,” with no mention of “Hispanic millenials.”
