Peña named impreMedia D.C. correspondent, Cádiz, political web editor

María Peña has been hired by impreMedia as the new Washington, D.C. correspondent, replacing Antonieta Cádiz who has taken the job of political web editor with the company.

María, who officially started at impreMedia on Monday, most recently spent 15 years working as a correspondent for EFE. She previously worked for UPI, NBC Canal de Noticias, Univision and Telemundo.

She is an active media panelist, participating in talk shows and political panels organized by the World Affairs Council, the White House Correspondents Association, Univision, CNN en Español, VOA, and Colombia’s NTN24.

Due to personal reasons, Antonieta has moved to Houston, from where she’ll lead political coverage for impreMedia’s online properties.

A Latin American correspondent, Antonieta assumed the position of Washington, D.C. correspondent for La Opinión newspaper in May 2009, later taking on the role for parent company impreMedia.  She previously spent 4 years working for the Chilean daily newspaper El Mercurio and for the main regional business magazine for Latin America, America Economía.

Antonieta has also been a guest panelist for TV shows, including Univision’s “Al Punto,” and CNN en Español’s “Choque de Opiniones.” She was a regular contributor for NTN24’s “Club de Prensa” during 2012 and 2013.
