El Rey Network adds 3 execs to its team

El Rey Network has announced the names of the marketing and communications executive team that will spearhead the  launch of the new cable network scheduled for later this month.

Chad Blankenship joins the network as Vice President, Consumer Marketing. Jose Antonio Hernandez is Vice President, Trade Marketing, and Clarissa Colmenero, Executive Director, Public Relations & Communications.  They will all report to Antoinette Alfonso Zel, El Rey Network’s COO.

Chad Blankenship spent the last 8 years at ESPN. During his tenure at the sports network, he held several high-level marketing roles. He was previously Advertising/Brand Manager for NYC2012, where he led domestic marketing efforts for New York City’s bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games. Before that, he was an account executive at several ad agencies.

Jose Antonio Hernandez was most recently senior account director at La Comunidad, an independent creative agency, heading up multi-platform marketing campaigns for the agency’s key clients including Apple.  He previously worked in the TV and music industry at AEG Live and Universal Music marketing crossover artists like Enrique Iglesias, among others. He also spearheaded the Latino initiative for Rock the Vote and worked at MTV Latin America.

Clarissa Colmenero was most recently Executive Director, Publicity at Summit Entertainment Studios where she led the East Coast-based publicity team.  While at Summit Entertainment, she worked on campaigns for all five The Twilight Saga films and the Academy Award campaign for The Hurt Locker, among other films.  She previously helped execute campaigns at Paramount Vantage for films such as There Will Be Blood and Babel. She began her career on the agency side at PMK/HBH and 42West.

El Rey Network, scheduled to  launch this month, is a new 24-hour English-language network founded by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez. The network’s action-packed content is anchored by original signature dramas, feature films, grindhouse genre, cult classic action, horror/sci-fi and next-generation sports.

El Rey Network LLC (www.elreynetwork.com) is jointly owned by Robert Rodriguez and FactoryMade Ventures with a minority stake held by Univision Communications Inc.
