Staffers were notified of the cancellations at the end of Sunday’s 5 pm newscast.
Although the company would not address how many people were laid off, a source says close to 20 people lost their jobs.
The cancellations are being attributed to a bad economy in the island that isn’t able to sustain the 5 and 11 pm weekend newscasts.
