“¡Hola TV!” debuts in U.S.

April 30, 2014 by Veronica Villafañe

Hola TV hosts
From L to R: Irene Sánchez, María José Barraza Ana María Monroy, and Lana Montalbán.

A new channel arrives with limited reach in the United States. ¡HOLA! TV, which mainly targets women, debuts Thursday, May 1 on DIRECTV.

The Spanish-language entertainment, celebrity news and lifestyle programming channel launched in Latin America in September of last year.

Ignacio Sanz de Acedo, CEO and general manager for ¡HOLA! TV, says the channel has about 4.5 million subscribers in the Caribbean and South America, and is currently in talks for carriage in Mexico.  The multi-year deal with DIRECT TV allows the channel to get exposure in the U.S.

¡HOLA! TV, headquartered in Miami, is a joint venture between ATRESMEDIA TELEVISION, a media conglomerate in Spain and ¡HOLA! Magazine, which has 30 editions reaching over 120 countries around the world, and a weekly readership of 20 million worldwide.

¡HOLA! TV produces two daily and three weekly original shows from their studios at Imagina U.S.  in Miami. Another one of their weekly original shows is produced by ATRESMEDIA TELEVISION, studios in Madrid, Spain.

“Mundo ¡HOLA!” is a weekday, one-hour magazine-style show, hosted by María José Barraza that showcases interviews and in-depth looks at celebrities, royal families and internationally renowned athletes.

“¡HOLA! Diario,” with Ana María Monroy, is a half-hour daily digest of the most important news from the entertainment world around the U.S. Europe and Latin America.

“¡HOLALA!” hosted by Irene Sánchez,  is a weekly half-hour show that reviews the best feature stories published in the 10 Latin American editions of HOLA! magazine.

On “En Exclusivo,” Lana Montalbán interviews celebrities in their homes.
