Telemundo, Univision and CNN en Español each picked up an Emmy as the Academy debuted the first Spanish-language categories during the 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
Telemundo’s “Un Nuevo Día” won the first-ever “Outstanding Morning Program in Spanish.”
María López-Álvarez is the Sr Executive Producer and María García-Márquez is the Executive Producer of the show, hosted by Rashel Diaz, Adamari Lopez, Ana Maria Canseco, Daniel Sarcos and Diego Schoening.
Rodner Figueroa, Univision correspondent for “El Gordo y la Flaca,” won in the daytime talent category.
CNN en Español’s “Clix” picked up an award for entertainment program in Spanish, even though it’s actually a technology program, hosted by Guillermo Arduino. The show’s Executive Producer is David Gamez, and the senior producers are Marcela Andrade and Magdalena Cabral.
This is the first year the Daytime Emmys were not televised. They were only streamed online, because the Academy wasn’t able to get a TV deal to air the show.
