Telemundo to hire 30 to launch local newscasts at 14 stations

The Telemundo Station Group is expanding its local news programming and will hire 30 new employees to support the initiative.

The company today announced plans to launch a new 30-minute newscast weekdays at 5:30 pm ET at 14 of its local stations beginning Monday, November 3.

In order to accommodate the local news expansion, Telemundo Network is adjusting its afternoon schedule.

The network’s daily entertainment show “Suelta la Sopa” will now air at 2 pm ET. “Caso Cerrado,” will move to 3 pm ET. “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste,” is bumped up to 4 pm ET from its current 5 pm timeslot. And to fill in the gap before the additional newscast, a half-hour version “The Best of Caso Cerrado,” will air at 5 pm ET.

The following Telemundo stations that will add the new half-hour newscast: Telemundo 52 Los Angeles, Telemundo 47 New York, Telemundo 51 Miami, Telemundo 47 Houston, Telemundo 39 Dallas, Telemundo Chicago, Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahía, Telemundo San Antonio, Telemundo Phoenix, Telemundo Tucson, Telemundo 40 McAllen, Telemundo 25 Denver, Telemundo 62 Philadelphia and Telemundo Las Vegas.
