Cleveland Cavaliers start broadcasting games in Spanish

Veteran broadcaster Rafa “El Alcalde” Hernández Brito will be doing the play-by-play Spanish-language narration of the Cleveland Cavaliers 2014-15 regular and post-season games.

This will mark the first time in club history that Cavs games will be broadcast in a second language.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have partnered with Murray Hill Broadcasting’s Mega 87.7 FM to broadcast all of its 2014-15 regular and post-season games in Spanish.

The partnership kicks off with the first game of the regular season tomorrow Thursday, October 30.

Each Cavs broadcast will begin with a 15-minute pregame show, hosted by Rafa. He’ll also do a postgame show featuring a recap with highlights and postgame commentary.

Rafa “El Alcalde” was the Spanish voice of Brooklyn Nets home games the past two seasons. He was also the voice of the New Jersey Nets from 1997 to 2001 and spent 11 years as the voice of NFL football for Spanish Broadcasts on Univision from 2003 to 2013.

He has worked 15 Super Bowls and covered the last five FIFA World Cups.

La Mega 87.7 replaced rock Cleveland Sound on January 1st to become the first full-service, 24-hour Hispanic radio signal.
