Rhor rejoins Houston Chronicle as staff writer

Award-winning journalist Mónica Rhor returns to the Houston Chronicle. She starts the new job as a staff writer for the paper’s enterprise team on November 3.

She previously worked at the Chronicle covering education from 2011 to 2012. She has  spent the last two years teaching high school journalism in a suburban Houston school district.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to go back to the Houston Chronicle and to work with newsroom leaders and colleagues who are committed to producing the best journalism possible,” says Monica. “Journalism is in my blood and always will be. Good journalism can change lives, change the world and make a difference. And I can’t wait to get back to the newsroom and start turning out stories.”

Prior to the Houston Chronicle, she was a staff writer for The Associated Press from 2006 to 2009. Before that, she was an investigative reporter for the Orange Country Register, an immigration reporter for the Boston Globe, a criminal justice reporter for the Miami Herald and a staff writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
