Univision picks up Emmy for investigative journalism

“Aquí y Ahora” one-hour special “El Chapo: El Eterno Fugitivo” netted Univision an Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Journalism in Spanish.

Univision picked up the award during the 35th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards in New York City on Tuesday night.

The special about Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera was produced by the Univision News investigative unit, which spent 8 months interviewing more than 100 people to construct a clearer profile of the elusive drug lord.

According to Univision, the special was seen by 1.6 million Adults 18-49 when it aired on Sunday November 3, 2013.
