November 21, 2014 by Veronica Villafañe

Accion_Ejecutiva-verticalPresident Obama’s executive action on immigration speech attracted almost 7 million viewers on Univision and Telemundo combined.

According to Nielsen, Univision had 5.055 million total viewers (ages 2+) while Telemundo had 1.8 million. Both saw an increase from the night before in the same timeslot.

Univision had a 49% bump from 3.418 million total viewers and Telemundo had a 38% jump from 1.305 million on Wednesday at 8 pm.

The speech forced Univision to delay airing its Latin Grammy Awards special. After wrapping up coverage of the speech, the network had a drop in viewers at 8:30 pm, averaging 4.799 million.

Telemundo also experienced a slight drop at 8:30 to 1.791 million, losing just 9,000 viewers.
