Univision 14 will move SF headquarters to San Jose

Univision’s KDTV-14 is currently housed on the 41st floor of a skyscraper in SF’s Financial District.

Citing the high cost of doing business in San Francisco and an opportunity to set up shop closer to where most of the market’s Hispanic population lives, KDTV Univision 14 is relocating its operations down south to San Jose.

The Univision O&O moved to the 41st floor of a skyscraper in San Francisco’s Financial District in 1998. The station was previously housed further south in the city, in an industrial park on Palou Ave.

Univision is not just moving its TV studio and newsroom, it’s also packing up its 3 radio stations – KSOL (98.9/99.1), KBRG (100.3 Mas Variedad), and KVVF (Hot 105.7/100.7).

The move is expected to take place in late 2015 with construction of the new facilities start early next year.

Univision’s new TV and radio consolidated headquarters will be at 1940 Zanker Road – only a mile away from the Telemundo/NBC studios.

KSTS-48 has been based in San Jose since it became a Telemundo station in 1987.

According to station spokesperson Carolina Echeverría, about 60 to 65 employees will be moving to the new San Jose headquarters.

Approximately 20 people will remain based in a smaller bureau in San Francisco. No location has been selected yet for the bureau.
