Former newspaper reporter Vicki Adame has accepted a job as Communications Lead for Texas with Enroll America. She’ll be leaving the Bay Area and moving to Austin, where she will be based starting in mid-January.

In her new job she’ll be overseeing media for the entire state for the organization, which works to get people enrolled in the Affordable Care Act.

Vicki already began working remotely on December 1.

“While I will miss all my friends in the Bay Aea, especially the NAHJ Bay Area Chapter, I’m looking forward to this new opportunity,” Vicki tells Media Moves. It’s definitely a job where I can combine both my journalistic skills and media relations skills. I am also looking forward to becoming involved with the local NAHJ chapter.”

During her journalism career, Vicki has worked as a reporter for the Santa Barbara News Press, the Bakersfield Californian, where she was also an Assistant City Editor, and the Tri-City Herald. She was also a reporter for the Fresno Bee’s bilingual publication Vida en el Valle, prior to taking a job as Communications Director for the United Farm Workers union.

For the past 6 years, she has been working as a freelance writer and media relations consultant.

Vicki  is a co-founder of the Bay Area Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) and served as its first president.
