Salinas receives Broadcast Legend award; RTNA gives Golden Mikes

María Elena Salinas received her Broadcast Legend award from the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California.

She becomes the first woman and first Latino/a to be honored with the award.

She received her award last Saturday night, during RTNA’s 65th annual Golden Mike Awards ceremony at the Universal Hilton.

Univision’s KMEX picked up awards in four categories and Telemundo’s KVEA got two that evening.

KEYT’s Oscar Flores and Victoria Sánchez celebrate their big Golden Mike wins.

Many other Latino journalists working in radio and television in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Fresno and Bakersfield.

Among the multiple award winners: Digital Content Director Oscar Flores, who won 4 Golden Mikes and MMJ Victoria Sánchez, who picked up 3.

Both Oscar and Victoria work at KEYT in Santa Barbara.

After the ceremony, the NAHJ Los Angeles chapter also held a special event to honor María Elena Salinas for her career and for being a co-founder of the journalist organization.
