“Premios tu Mundo” makes Telemundo #1

The live broadcast of “Premios Tu Mundo” was a big hit for Telemundo. The award show ranked #1 in Spanish-language television, delivering its best-ever performance averaging 2,363,000 total viewers (+24% vs. 2014) and 1,159,000 adults 18-49 (+9% vs. 2014), according to Nielsen.

The three-hour primetime show, which aired Thursday from 8 to 11 pm, reached a cumulative audience of 5,309,000 total viewers and 2,764,000 adults 18-49, +29% and +24% vs. last year. The red carpet special “La Alfombra de Premios Tu Mundo,” also fared well, bringing its best performance to date with 1,463,000 total viewers, and averaging 589,000 adults 18-49.

The show, now in its fourth year, also ranked #1 in its time slot, regardless of language, among adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, New York and Miami. It also ranked #1 in its time slot in New York and Miami, among total viewers and #1 across Spanish-language stations in Los Angeles.

The show, which honors Latino singers and actors of Telemundo novelas, as voted by fans, featured a tribute to Joan Sebastian and performances and appearances by Nicky Jam, Paulina Rubio, Yandel, Alejandra Guzmán, Yuri, Olga Tañon, J Balvin, Jencarlos Canela, Victor Manuelle, among others.

During the event, Univision’s Mario Kreutzberger, aka “Don Francisco,” received the Gigante de Gigantes Award for his lifelong contributions to Spanish-language television.

“Premios Tu Mundo” enjoyed its most successful year on digital and social platforms, ranking as the #1 most socially engaging program on Facebook compared to all US primetime TV programs that aired Thursday night.

Facebook posts promoting “Premios Tu Mundo” reached a total of 30 million users worldwide, generating 926k actions, becoming a worldwide trend, and growing +183% vs. 2014.

Traffic for the show generated nearly 2.2 million page views, +664% vs. 2014, and 89k video streams, +87% vs. 2014. “Premios Tu Mundo” delivered its biggest activity across mobile platforms to date, generating 5.3 million page views, +158% vs. 2014, and 91k video streams, +169% vs. last year. Fans worldwide generated more than 10 million votes for their favorite actors, singers and TV moments, +78% vs. 2014.
