Univision network picked up three Emmys and Telemundo network scored one win during the 36th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards, held Monday night at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall in Manhattan.
Both networks won in Spanish-language categories.
Univision won in the Outstanding Newsmagazine in category with “Entre el Abandono y el Rechazo.” The María Elena Salinas special has also received Peabody, Gracie and Cronkite awards this year. The Univision Investigative Unit was recognized for “Nuevos Narcotesoros” in the Outstanding Investigative Journalism category and “Aquí y Ahora” newsmagazine received an Emmy for “La Masacre de Iguala” in the Breaking News Category.
Telemundo won its sole Emmy with the documentary “Muriendo por Cruzar” in the Outstanding Investigative Journalism in category. “Muriendo por Cruzar,” a Telemundo and Weather Channel co-production, won a George Polk Award in the category of Television Reporting earlier this year.
