WZDC Telemundo Washington DC has scored an unprecedented number of Emmy awards. The station’s local newscast, Telenoticias Washington, won 9 Emmys out of 10 nominations at the 58th National Capital Chesapeake Bay Emmy Awards Gala on June 25.
For the past two years, the ZGS station received one nomination, but did not take home an award.
The station is attributing the wins to the leadership of News Director Maria Rozman, who joined WZDC last year.
Market rival Entravision-owned WFDC Univision 14 is also celebrating. It picked up 5 out of the 7 Emmys it was nominated for.
