In historic ratings win, Telemundo topples Univision in primetime

For the first time in its history, Telemundo was the #1 Spanish-language network in primetime among key demos – and the feat lasted an entire week.

Telemundo attributes the historic win to the 3-hour season finale of “El Señor de los Cielos” on Monday, July 18 and the triple premiere of “Silvana Sin Lana,” “Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso” and “Señora Acero 3, La Coyote” the following day.

According to Nielsen, Telemundo was the #1 Spanish-language network among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 during Monday–Friday primetime and in every hour of the daypart – 7, 8, 9 and 10 pm during the week of July 18.

In another first, Telemundo was also the #1 Spanish-language TV network for the week during Monday–Sunday primetime programming among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.

Telemundo’s programming strategy has been successful in closing the ratings gap with Univision. For over a year, Telemundo has been the #1 Spanish-language network at 10 pm among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 thanks to its super series phenomenon.
