September 6, 2016 by Veronica Villafañe

Azteca_America-logoCompared to Telemundo and Univision, Azteca América doesn’t attract as many viewers, but the smaller network has been experiencing a steady uptick in ratings during primetime among adults 18-49.

Azteca América reports its seventh consecutive month of year-over-year growth, delivering its highest August ratings in five years across total viewers (+3%), adults 18-49 (+10%) and adults 25-54 (+15%), according to Nielsen.

The network reached 3.1 million total viewers and 1.5 million adults 18-49 in primetime for the month.

Adults 18-49 drove growth in the primetime lineup, with “Al Extremo” delivering a +34% increase, while “Desafío” grew by +270% and the Docu-Drama hour that includes “El Cazador” and “Las Entrañas de lo Prohibido” reported +24% year-over-year growth.

It also had its highest concentration of young viewers in primetime, with 25% of its total average audience in the adults 18-34 demo.

Locally, KPDF in Phoenix and WCHU in Chicago, the stations saw double and triple-digit growth in the adults 18-49 demo, including Chicago (+211%) and Phoenix (+45%).
