MundoMax to go off air at local stations; lays off staff

MundoMax network has done another round of lay offs. This time, the company cut about a dozen employees in several departments, including administration, programming, promotions, research and sales in Los Angeles, New York and Miami.

It’s also pulling the plug on network affiliates in what appears to be a winding down of the four-year-old network’s U.S. operations.

Multiple sources tell Media Moves that MundoMax management has notified stations around the country that they will not renew affiliate agreements, ending those relationships effective November 30.

That means MundoMax will disappear from the local airwaves. It’s unclear at this point if MundoMax is negotiating with cable and satellite companies to remain on the air strictly as a cable network.

Company representatives did not respond to several requests for comment.
