NLRB sets election date for Telemundo actors to vote for unionization

Telemundo telenovela actors based in Miami who have been organizing for over a year got the green light to vote for union representation.

The National Labor Relations Board cleared the way for the election. The SAG-AFTRA vote is scheduled from February 7 to March 8.

Telemundo performers claim they don’t get fair compensation and seek the same benefits English-speaking NBCUniversal performers receive, including health care and pension benefits.

A network spokesperson states the company welcomes the vote. “We are pleased the union now has done this, so that our talent will be able to make a decision for themselves on whether to be represented.”
