The Univision network news anchor will be inducted into the NAB Hall of Fame during the organization’s 2017 Television Luncheon on Monday, April 24 in Las Vegas.
Salinas, who began her journalism career in 1981 as a reporter and anchor at KMEX-34 in Los Angeles, has been anchor of Univision’s network newscast since 1987.
She is the longest running female network news anchor in the country.
She is also an Emmy, Peabody, and Edward R. Murrow award-winning journalist. Among her many accolades, she is the 2016 recipient of the Mickey Leland Humanitarian award, became the first Latina to receive an Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2012.
She has also been inducted into the National Association of Hispanic Journalists’s Hall of Fame and was honored with the “Broadcast Legend” award by the Radio and Television News Association (RTNA).
Previous NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame television inductees include Ted Koppel, Shonda Rhimes and Betty White.
