The Times-Picayune and Telemundo 42 have forged a content partnership to create NOLA Mundo, a Spanish-language news and information source for the New Orleans area’s rapidly growing Hispanic community.

Maria Clark, who has worked as a correspondent for the New York Daily News and NOLA.com, will lead content production for the project.

Manuel Torres, a reporter and editor for The Times-Picayune since 2000, will be NOLA Mundo’s editor and Karla Ortiz will be in charge of the business partnerships.

Telemundo 42’s anchor Azucena Díaz and Ana Gershanik, whose Hispanic community news column “Nuestro Pueblo” has appeared in The Times-Picayune since 1990, will be contributors. Gershanik will continue writing her column in English, with some of them to be translated to Spanish.

NOLA Mundo content in Spanish will be available online at NOLA.com/nolamundo and nolamundo.com, in print on Wednesday and Sunday in The Times-Picayune, on Telemundo 42 and on radio stations 105.7-FM and 1540-AM, as well as on social media @NOLAmundo.

According to U.S. Census data from July 2015, there were 109,553 Hispanics in the New Orleans metro area, almost double the Hispanic population recorded in 2000.

NOLA Mundo will launch on June 7.
