Currently on-boarding at NPR’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., she’ll start her job in full from the public radio network’s L.A. Culver City base on September 17.
She’ll be responsible for driving the network’s afternoon and evening breaking and ongoing news coverage in collaboration with the Deputy Managing Editors on the East Coast.
Morgante was Managing Editor of the Merced Sun-Star until May of this year, when the position was eliminated due to McClatchy-wide budget cuts.
Before that, she spent 20 years in multiple roles at the Associates Press, including Florida Assistant Bureau Chief for 7 years, leaving the company as Latin America Desk Editor, based in Mexico City.
