Hispanicize unveils journalism program for 2018 conference

DACA, Puerto Rico, #FakeNews, Trump, #MeToo, and this year’s midterm elections are some of the hot topics that dominate the agenda of the 6th annual Hispanic Journalists Showcase of Hispanicize 2018.

This year, the conference runs three days, April 17-19, and will feature a lineup of Latino journalists from newsrooms across the country, including NBC News, CNN, Telemundo, Univision, NPR.

Among the journalists slated to speak are:

José Díaz-Balart, Anchor Host for NBC News and Telemundo; Gadi Schwartz, Correspondent for NBC News and co-host of NBC News’ innovative Snapchat newscast, “Stay Tuned”; Michelle Morgante, Deputy Managing Editor, NPR; Antoine Sanfuentes, Managing Editor for the White House and Capitol Hill, CNN; Mariana Atencio, National Corresponent, MSNBC; Leyla Santiago, Correspondent, CNN; Gloria Ordaz, Anchor, Noticiero Telemundo 51; Veronica Villafañe, Editor of Media Moves and Past President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists; Fernando Lopez, Deputy Editor, ESPN Deportes Digital; Miguel Martinez Valle, Reporter, NBC10 Telemundo Philadelphia; Martin Muñoz, News Digital Director, Telemundo; Alix Aspe, Digital Producer, Telemundo News; Silvia Salgado, Director of Digital integration, Univision.

Former NAHJ presidents Hugo Balta, Senior Director of Hispanic Initiatives at ESPN, and Mekahlo Medina, co-anchor of the NBC4 weekend morning news “Today in LA”, co-curated the journalism showcase.

Journalists will also be able to apply for communications jobs at the inaugural Hispanicize Marketing and Communications Jobs and Career Fair.

— A Conversation On Race, Identity and How They Are Viewed In The News
