María Elena Salinas will join Telemundo’s special Mexican election coverage

Maria Elena Salinas, Telemundo

Telemundo has kept it hush-hush, but this Sunday, July 1, María Elena Salinas will participate in Telemundo’s Mexican presidential elections coverage.

Salinas will be a guest commentator from the network’s Miami studios. She’s scheduled to be on the air at 8 and 10 pm ET.

Telemundo would not provide further details or comment on their decision to bring Salinas to its special live coverage, which it’s branding as “México, the Final Battle.”

The network today aired a 30-second promo during the national newscast, anchored by José Díaz-Balart that mentions Salinas as a “guest journalist.”

Salinas, the longest-running female national news anchor in the United States, worked for rival Univision for over 30 years, where she covered multiple elections in Mexico, her family’s country of origin.
