Sylvia Obén joins Cox-owned Telemundo Charlotte as a multimedia journalist.
She’ll be shooting, editing and reporting stories for the station’s first Spanish-language television newscast, launched in July.
She started the new job Monday, September 10.
Obén arrives to Charlotte from Houston, where she had been a correspondent for Spanish-language online news site Mundo Hispánico since 2016.
Prior to Mundo Hispánico, she was a freelance reporter and social media manager for the Houston weekly Semana News.
Before that, she worked as a freelance reporter and the social media manager for La Raza newspaper in Chicago.
She started her career at Univision Chicago’s creative services department.
