Enrique Rodríguez has been promoted to 5 and 10 pm weekday anchor, sharing the desk with Erika Maldonado.
He succeeds veteran Jorge Barbosa, who retired in August after anchoring Univision Chicago’s newscasts for 34 years.
Over the past 14 years, Rodríguez has held multiple roles at Univision’s WGBO-Channel 66, including sports anchor, weekend anchor and since June 2017, co-anchor of midday newscast “Edición Digital: Chicago.”
He took over as the new weeknight anchor on Thursday, September 27.
Rodríguez and Maldonado will also co-host the station’s new Sunday morning public affairs show “Al Punto Chicago,” which will debut on October 14 at 10 am.
Prior to joining Univision Chicago in 2004, Rodríguez worked in Phoenix as an anchor/reporter at KTVK 3TV3 and ¡Más! Arizona, and a sports commentator at Radio Unica.
He was previously a reporter for KVEA TV 52 and KWHY TV 22 in Los Angeles.
